The Town of Milton NH is accepting bids on major repairs at the Milton Free Public Library located at 13 Main Street, Milton Mills, NH. The Milton Mills Free Public Library is an historical building, which was originally constructed in 1875. Additional history on the structure is available at

The repairs needed are to remove and replace existing outside siding on second story, brace tower, remove existing shingles and replace with cedar shakes, install fascia to match dormers as needed.

Contractors should be familiar with historical restoration, be lead certified, and be insured. The winning bidder will be required to provide a certificate of liability insurance for $2 million with the Town of Milton listed as an additional insured. Contractors should also provide recommendations from previous work on historical buildings.

Interested bidders are instructed to be available for an on-site walk-through Thursday March 23, 2017 at 4:30. This walk-through will be made with Pat Smith, Director of Milton Public Works with details being explained. Plans and detailed Scope of Work will be available at that time.

All bids must be submitted to: Town of Milton, Attention Heather Thibodeau, 424 White Mountain Highway, PO Box 310, Milton, NH 03851. All bids must be in a sealed envelope. All bids must have the following words written on the outside of the envelope: “Milton Free Public Library Bid”. Deadline for bid submission is Monday, April 6, 2017 at 12 Noon.

All bids will be publically opened at the next available Board of Selectmen’s meeting in open session. The Board of Selectmen reserves the right to reject any bid.
